- * The Basic Official Filing Fee is for a Patent Specification that contains up to 30 pages and up to 10 Claims.
- The Official Fees for each page in the Patent Specification in excess of 30 pages and each claim in excess of 10 claims are: Rs. 160 / Rs. 800 per Page; and Rs. 320 / Rs. 1,600 per Claim, respectively.
- Where the Applicant(s) is or are individuals, Expedited Examination may be requested only if at least one of the Applicant(s) is a female.
- Category 1 — DPIIT-Recognised Startups [with a Certificate of Recognition issued by DPIIT] / MSMEs [with Udyam Registration] / Educational Institutions [approved by AICTE/UGC] / Natural Persons [individual applicants].
- Category 2 — All Applicants who do not fall under Category 1.
- Criteria for Startups: not more than ten years should have lapsed from the date of incorporation, and annual turnover should not exceed Rs. 100 crores for any financial year since incorporation.
SIPP [Startups Intellectual Property Protection] Scheme for DPIIT-Recognised Startups
Benefits available to Startups recognised by the Government of India under the Startup India initiative include availing the services of Patent Facilitators and Trade Mark Facilitators. For Patent Services, Startups need to bear only the Statutory Fees, while the Professional Charges — fixed by the Central Government — shall be paid directly by the Central Government.
